About 70% of the content of rice consists of complex carbohydrate, while in raw potatoes it is about 16%. This means that if you need to boost your carbohydrate intake in your diet, rice is the ideal choice for you. Moreover, it is an incredibly versatile food, and by choosing the right type, you can shine in Italian, Asian, Mexican and classic Czech cuisine. Classic white rice is often condemned due to its higher glycemic index. However, the truth is that if it is your favorite, you can add it to your plate with a clear conscience – in a complex meal that also contains protein, fats, and fiber, the higher glycemic index “disappears,” and even in terms of fiber and micronutrient content, there are no significant differences compared to, for example, brown rice. Especially with minerals, the content on paper is noticeably higher, but in the end, the body utilizes only a minimal amount.

Rice is suitable as a side dish to meat, fish, tofu, legumes or various sauces. It also plays a more prominent role, for example, in the recipe for quick fried rice with egg, sushi or crispy rice salad.
