Savoury porridge with fried egg

If you love porridge, but you're also more of a savoury person, we've got a recipe that combines both. This is an easy recipe for a tasty savoury porridge which works great as a breakfast, or a lighter lunch when you're in a hurry. Another bonus is that it will keep you full for hours.

Porridge:
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 30 g rye flakes
  • 20 g oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch garlic granules
  • 30 g 30% edam cheese
  • 1 cup baby spinach

Instructions

  1. Fry both the rye and regular oats with a little bit of ghee.

  2. Once the oats are aromatic, pour in water and lower to heat to medium. 
  3. Whilst the oats are simmering, fry an egg in a separate pan. 

  4. When the oats are soft, add the grated cheese, baby spinach and season well.

  5. Serve the porridge with the fried egg and drizzle with a little bit of olive oil. You can also add a wholemeal tortilla cut into triangles, or your favourite rye bread.
