Are you looking for a way to eat 45g of protein and enjoy it too? Forget tasteless chicken breast with rice. This homemade chicken gyros is super juicy thanks to the Greek yoghurt marinade, and the chicken thighs give it a proper, authentic taste. No overcooked oil from a questionable food stand, just clean and quality ingredients. Together with homemade tzatzik they make a nutritionally balanced sensation with only 306kcal per portion.💣

Per 3 portions

Meat:
  • 500 g chicken meat
  • 140 g Greek yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp garlic granules
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dill
Tzatziki:
  • 200 g Greek yoghurt
  • 150 g cucumber
  • 1 tsp dill
  • 1/2 tsp garlic granules
  • lemon juice
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Start by marinating the meat. You can do it one day ahead, so it's marinating overnight.

    Use boneless chicken thighs. Marinate them in Greek yoghurt, olive oil, lemon juice and zest, and seasoning. Mix well and leave it to marinate for at least an hour.

  2. Meanwhile, prepare the tzatziki. In a bowl, mix the Greek yoghurt, finely grated cucumber (no skin), dill, garlic, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.

  3. Prepare a small baking dish or a bread tin. Layer the marinated meat. So it doesn't move whilst roasting,  skewer it together. Bake at  180 °C for 60 minutes.

  4. After roasting, slice the meat finely. You can serve the gyros with baked potatoes, vegetables and homemade tzatziki or another sauce.

  5. Enjoy!
