Sweet potatoes are a vegetable from the Americas. They are sweeter than traditional potatoes, and that's why they go well with slightly sweeter dishes too.
They're a popular side dish or snack, often consumed as crisps or fries. Let's have a look at how you can make them.

Per 2 portions
- 2 sweet potatoes
- 1 tbsp rosemary
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp pepper
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven. Chop your sweet potato into fries. You can make them thin and long.
-
Soak them in cold water for at least five minutes. Take them out of the water, dry them and then continue with the next steps. Soaking them in cold water makes them crispier and more fries‑like.
-
Add the fries to a bowl and add the oil, rosemary, salt and pepper. Mix well and then place them on a baking tray.
-
Bake in the oven at 220°C for 25 minutes, until the skins are golden. Tip: Flip them halfway through the baking time.
-
You can garnish the fries with chopped chives or parsley. You can serve them as a side or on their own with some ketchup, tartar sauce or homemade dip.
