Recipe for Vegetarian Dishes
Whether you’re cutting out meat, or even eggs or dairy products, for whatever reason, you can still quickly whip up a healthy, tasty, and above all balanced meal without these ingredients. In your diet, it’s best to focus especially on complex carbohydrates, health‑promoting unsaturated fatty acids, fiber, and enough protein – this nutrient is often lacking in vegetarian or vegan diets.
The key factor is which groups of animal‑based foods are eliminated from your menu – both meat, eggs, and dairy products are actually the highest‑quality sources of protein. If any of these ingredients are excluded, it’s best to reach for the remaining animal protein sources as your primary substitute.
If all animal sources are removed from the diet, you can achieve sufficient intake of quality protein by combining legumes and grains. Plant proteins contain so‑called limiting amino acids, which means that some amino acids are present in too small amounts and thus hinder the synthesis of new proteins in the body. However, by combining legume and grain sources, these amino acids complement each other and this problem is solved.
