- 500 g plain flour
- 200 ml milk
- 70 g cane sugar
- 80 g butter
- 1 egg
- 25 g yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 300 g walnuts
- 150 g cane sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 100 ml milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions

Let the butter soften to room temperature. Dissolve yeast and a teaspoon of sugar in lukewarm milk and then leave it to sit for 10 minutes, until it starts to foam.

Sieve flour through to a bowl, then add salt, sugar, softened butter and egg. Add the milk with yeast and work it into a smooth and elastic dough.

Cover the dough with a teatowel and leave it to rise in a warm place for an hour, or until it doubles in size.

Meanwhile, prepare the filling. In a small saucepan, heat milk with sugar until the sugar dissolves. Leave it to cool and then add the ground nuts, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Mix until you have a thick blend.

Preheat the oven to 180 °C.

Transfer the leavened dough to a board dusted with flour and roll it out into a rectangle.Spread the nut filling evenly over the whole dough, except the edges.

Carefully roll the dough into a long roll or strudel shape and transfer it onto a tray lined with baking paper.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30‑35 minutes, until the strudel turns golden.
