Vilgain Quinoa Red or Merlik Chile is a gluten‑free pseudo cereal with a slightly sweet taste. It tastes great both salty and sweet. It has an earthy red colour and is crispier than white quinoa.
High in fibre and a source of protein
It is easy to digest and has a low glycemic index, so it will keep you full for longer. It also contains a good portion of protein with all the essential amino acids, which are among the highest quality of plant sources. This is confirmed by NASA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, who took quinoa into space in 2015 as a nutritionally high value food.
Ideal as a side dish and main meal
Quinoa is ideal for soups, sauces, porridges, salads, side dishes or main meals. It can be well combined with sweet and savoury dishes.

Suggested use
- Bring the water to a boiling point and add the rinsed quinoa in a 2:1 ratio.
- Reduce heat to low and cook for 15‑20 minutes until most of the water is absorbed.
