Vilgain Calcium + Vitamin D3 is an effective food supplement designed to help maintain normal bone health and support calcium absorption.
Instead of cheap calcium carbonate, we opted for the much more bioavailable citrate. According to studies [1,2], it has 22–27% better absorption, which means it has higher bioavailability and the body does not need to eliminate it unnecessarily.
The main function of calcium in our body is to help maintain normal bones and teeth. The combination of calcium from calcium citrate and vitamin D3, which also contributes to normal calcium absorption, is therefore an ideal way to support optimal levels of these nutrients in the body.
The total amount of calcium in the body can decrease with age from around 40–50 years, which is why it is important for older adults to ensure adequate calcium intake. Increased calcium needs may also occur in active athletes or adolescents whose skeletal system is under greater strain.
