Vilgain Brazil Nuts - royal‑sized nuts with sweet taste from tropical Amazonia
Brazil nut is one of the most valuable products of Brazil and other regions of South America. It is also known as the Brazil nut and is characterised by its sweet nutty flavour with a pleasantly light bitterness.
Unlike conventional supermarkets, which most often sell only kernels labeled as "midgets" (the second smallest kernels on the market), ours are the second largest, with about 242‑286 kernels in 1 kg.
A great source of healthy fats, protein and selenium
Like all nuts, Brazil nuts are rich in unsaturated fatty acids, which help maintain proper cholesterol levels. They contain up to 20 % protein and 8 % fibre. The important micronutrients contained include copper, phosphorus, vitamin E, zinc and magnesium, which are among the most important elements in our bodies.
The mineral selenium is a very important component, with 1 nut containing 170 % of the recommended daily dose of selenium . Selenium is essential for the functioning of the thyroid gland, the immune system and the protection of brain cells. Selenium can cause digestive problems in high levels, so be careful not to eat too many nuts at once. 3‑4 a day will be plenty.
And what are Brazil nuts good for?
You can munch on them as a snack, raw and unadulterated. They are great in vegetable salads, desserts, morning porridge or yoghurt with other nuts and fresh or freeze‑dried fruit, for example. They are also very often found in the ingredients of various bars or muesli.
